Adelaide Sailing Club, West Beach, Adelaide, South Australia
27th December 2006 to 5th January 2007
The Organising Authority is the Adelaide Sailing Club in conjunction
with the Hobie Cat Association of South Australia and the Australian
National Hobie Class Association.
1 RULES
a The
regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules
of Sailing (RRS).
b The
Prescriptions and Special Regulations of Yachting Australia Inc will
apply.
c The
rules of the International Hobie Class Association will apply.
d Rules
of the International Hobie Class Association are changed as follows:
i Hobie 20 Class Rule 9 ‘Minimum Crew Weight’ shall read: “The
Hobie 20 shall have a minimum combined crew weight of 145kgs”.
e If
there is a conflict between languages the English text will take
precedence.
2 ADVERTISING
a The
regatta is classified as a category C event in accordance with the
ISAF Advertising Code.
3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
a The
regatta is open to all boats of the International Hobie Class Association.
b All
crew members on board a competing boat shall be members in good standing
of the International Hobie Class Association in accordance with the
constitution of the International Hobie Class Association (IHCA General
Rule 26).
c A
minimum of 5 entries is required to form a class. If sufficient entries
for a class are not received by 11th December 2006 the Organising
Authority reserves the right to cancel racing or make other arrangements
for the class concerned.
d Eligible
boats may enter by completing the official entry form and sending
it, together with the required fee by 1700 11th December 2006, to:

Boats entering more
than 1 series, the second and/or subsequent series will be discounted
by 25%. A 20% discount will apply to all entries received before
1700 11th December 2006.
5 SCHEDULE
a The
regatta will consist of 2 series.
i Series 1 -
will consist of the Hobie 16 Youth, Hobie 16 Women, Hobie 16 Masters,
Hobie 17, Hobie 18 and Hobie Tiger classes.
ii Series 2 -
will consist of the Hobie 16 Open class.

d Racing will
be back to back with a maximum of 5 races per day to a maximum
of 16 races per series.
6 MEASUREMENTS
a Measurement is not required, but it is the responsibility of each
skipper to ensure their boat complies with the International Hobie
Class Association rules. Measurement checks and inspections may
be carried out at any time. A boat notified of inspection shall
follow the instructions of the Race Committee.
7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
a The Sailing Instructions will be available to competitors on completion
of registration.
8 VENUE
a The racing will be held on the waters of Gulf St Vincent adjacent
to the Adelaide Sailing Club. (Appendix A)
9 THE COURSES
a The course to be sailed will be standard International Hobie Class
Association courses.
10 PENALTY SYSTEM
a Rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including
one tack and one gybe, is required.
11 SCORING
a One (1) race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
b When fewer than four (4) races have been completed, a boat’s
series score will be the total of her race scores.
c When four (4) to eleven (11) races have been completed, a boat’s
series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst
score.
d When twelve (12) or more races have been completed, a boat’s
series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two
worst score.
12 BUOYANCY
a All competitors shall wear, whilst afloat, an approved personal flotation
device which is in good condition and is in accordance with the
specifications issued or approved by a national authority affiliated
to the International Sailing Federation, or a standards organisation,
or certification authority, recognised for the purpose by its respective
government. Flag Y will not be displayed before or with the warning
signal. This modifies RRS 40.
b Attention is drawn to RRS Fundamental Rule 1.2.
13 SUPPORT BOATS
a Team managers, coaches and other support personnel shall keep 100
metres clear of the course area during racing, except in boats
provided by the Organising Authority or when asked to assist by
the Race Committee.
14 BERTHING
a Boats shall be kept in their assigned place in the boat park.
15 RADIO COMMUNICATION
a A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive
radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction
also applies to mobile telephones.
16 PRIZES
a Subject to fleet sizes prizes will be awarded for first five places
in each fleet in Series 1 and the first 7 places in Series 2. The
Organising Committee may award additional prizes.
17 RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS
a In participating in an event, a competitor automatically grants to
the Organising Authority and the sponsors of the event the right
in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at
their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live,
taped or film television and other reproductions of them during
the period of the competition for the said event in which the competitor
participates and in all material related to the said event without
compensation.
18 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
a Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk.
See Rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organising Authority will not
accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or
death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after
the regatta.
19 INSURANCE
a Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party liability
insurance with a minimum cover of AUD$1,000,000 (recommended AUD$10,000,000)
per event or the equivalent. All owners/competitors who sign the
Entry Form are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold
such cover.

The Adelaide Sailing Club is situated at West Beach 10kms (by road)
from the Adelaide CBD and only 5kms (by road) from the new Adelaide
International Airport. Adelaide Sailing Club was formed from the union
of Glenelg Sailing Club (est. 1898) with Holdfast Bay Yacht Club (est.
1883). This union took place in 1998 with the construction of these
world-class facilities at the end of Barcoo Rd. "An off the beach
club with keel boat facilities." The Adelaide Sailing Club is
modern and well appointed. We offer the following facilities:

Adelaide’s Climate:
Late December and January are generally the hottest and driest time
of the year. Typical days are warm to hot and sunny with an afternoon
sea-breeze developing from the southwest. Some days are over 35°C.
Winds on about half the days exceed 8 knots at 9am and 13 knots at
3pm. The predominant direction is southwest. On average, rain falls
on 5 days.

parks. A reasonably comprehensive listing of accommodation within the
immediate area, from 3 star units to 5 star hotels, is included below.
